Challenges that will make you grow
- Disciplinary role leading a team of between 12-15 people, mainly scientist and including also some technical experts.
- Main goals of the department are:
- to develop new aluminium alloy solutions, that allow for a high recycling content. Need to align with the process optimization team to design specific processes, for those alloys, and support widening the alloy specification.
- developing and implementing melt purification techniques, to allow to buy dirtier scraps.
- Scrap management within our production and advising plants on how to evaluate and handle scrap to optimise recovery.
- Support the production process with technical advice in melting and casting.
- Develop and support industrialization of technologies that use alternative green energies.
- Assessing project feasibility and ensuring that the outcome aligns to the main business needs and strategy. Managing interface and working in alignment with the Business Unit Heads and management teams.
- Lead key projects that support business goals, prioritizing to deliver on key projects that support the highest valued delivered to the company.
- Overseeing delivery of high quality research and ensuring the work makes the expected impact in the organization.
- Connect the scientific work with the individual business areas and production at Speira.
- Coaching and helping your team incl. develop the skills of the team.
Qualifications that will get you ahead
- Degree (preferably with a PHD) in the field of materials and materials science, preferably with a focus on metallic materials.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in management or leading position ideally related to the topic of alloy development.
- Ability to develop people, process and strategies and communicate depending on the stakeholder.
- Project management and communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills would be valued knowledge in statistical data evaluation.
- Very good knowledge of the metallurgy of aluminum and aluminum alloys: microstructure, alloying additions and mechanical properties and link between them.
- Knowledge on processing and the process chain of aluminum rolled products, mainly on casting and melting processes.
- Communicative and motivated and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams.
- Very good knowledge of German and English rounds off your profile; any other language is advantageous.
