Project Lead "DC-Casting and Cast Products"(m/f/d)

We think about the future

– also yours.

Challenges that will make you grow

  • Participation in R&D teams with focus on DC-casting and cast product properties (shell zone, phase formation, floating crystals, …)
  • Advice operations on impact on processing and cast products defects, coming from casting practices or alloy composition with particular focus on increasing recycling content for current alloys
  • Support development of casting recipes for industrial alloys cast in the Speira plants (especially recycling friendly alloys)
  • Identification and extension of cast products tolerance to trace elements concentration
  • Perform numerical studies of DC-casting and cast house products
  • Improve our simulation tools (include element segregation) and apply to the industrial process
  • Support selection of casting technology for the plants
  • Link the casting improvements with other optimizations needed in the whole process from liquid metal to finish slab

Qualifications that will get you ahead

  • Degree in metallurgy (M.Sc. or PhD)
  • Experience in numeric (e.g. CFD, electromagnetics, multi-physics)
  • Cast house knowledge and understanding on different steps involved in the process
  • Understand of quality requirements of alloys, melting and with specific focus in casting
  • Practical experience as well as theoretical knowledge on Aluminium DC-casting
  • You have project management skills
  • Good written and spoken German and English, other foreign languages are advantageous
  • High motivation, flexibility, teamwork and communication skills
  • Driving license class B mandatory
  • Experience in alloy development, and effect of recycling elements on alloy performance (castability, subsequent processing) and basic understanding of alloys (particularly Aluminium) are valued
